Materials Hard + Soft 2025 Opening Reception
It’s finally here, the grand opening of GDAC’s longest-running signature show now in its 38th year: Materials Hard + Soft Contemporary Craft & Conceptual Art Competition and Exhibition. What began as an exhibition designed by founding member of GDAC Georgia Gough to elevate craftmanship typically excluded from what is considered “fine art,” MHS has grown to receive national and international recognition. This year MHS includes new categories for conceptual art and digital media to continue pushing the boundaries new mediums and materials.

Youth Art Month Opening Reception
March is Youth Art Month and we’re celebrating with another exhibition of artworks by Denton ISD’s elementary school students in Gough Gallery. You’re invited to celebrate with us at the opening reception! Please join us in supporting our community’s youngest artists so together we can show them the value of creativity and imagination.
90’s Murder Mystery Dinner
Get ready to step into the world of neon lights, slap bracelets, and grunge vibes at GDAC’s 1990s Murder Mystery Dinner! Brought to you by The Murder Mystery Co., this interactive show sets the scene at a mall grand opening, where things take a dark turn as a murder is uncovered. Your mission: unravel the mystery while navigating through a sea of ‘90s pop culture references. It’s more than just a dinner—it’s a chance to solve a crime that’s more perplexing than a Rubik’s Cube.
Don’t be Clueless… Dress in your best ‘90s style! Think flannel shirts, neon windbreakers, and platform shoes. Channel your inner Rachel Green or Fresh Prince and let the nostalgia take over!
Tickets include a full-course meal, two drink tickets (with non-alcoholic options available), and a front-row seat to all the action.

Amplify Denton
Rock out with us and the Denton Music & Arts Collaborative (DMAC) at our first annual Amplify Denton! This music festival style fundraiser benefits both GDAC and DMAC, an incredible nonprofit providing healthcare subsidies to local artists and musicians. Best of all, this event (as the title suggests) amplifies the amazing array of homegrown Denton talent showcasing local musicians and visual artists.
With two main stages, one indoor and one outdoor, Amplify Denton has double the music lineup featuring Honey Saxon, Isaac Hoskins, Helium Queens, Fingerprints, Cassandra Berry, and Raised Right Men. For our littlest rockstars, there will be a musical puppet show running through the day inside the PAAC. Be sure to snag raffle tickets for your chance to win a Denton entertainment experience. Food and drinks will be provided by local vendors and breweries. Amplify Denton is organized with one goal in mind: shining the spotlight on the creative community that makes this wholly uniquely from anywhere else.
General admission is free, but for a more intimate VIP experience, tables are for sale that include food, drinks, and a front row seat to the auction. If you want to help make this experience the best and most successful it can be, sponsorships are available with perks including VIP tables, raffle tickets, logos on marketing materials, recognition during the event, and much more! Artists Enclave of Denton County 9th Annual Eggsibition
Join us for the Artists Enclave of Denton County’s 9th Annual Eggsibition! We are partnered once again with the enclave for a simply eggs-cellent silent auction fundraiser supporting both of our organizations. This year’s theme is A Shellebration of Art History, in which artists will be transforming ceramic eggs into one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork inspired by art movements and styles through history.
Can’t make it to in-person exhibition at the PAAC? No worries! The silent auction will be fully online and bidding starts early this year at 3 PM on March 23 at eggsibition.givesmart.com, so act fast! The auction will close at 5:30 PM on March 30.

Punk Love Opening Reception
Get rebellious with us for the opening of Punk Love! On display for limited time in Gough Gallery, this brand new GDAC signature exhibition celebrates the edgy, alternative kinds of love that don’t fit into heart shaped chocolate boxes. We’re going all out for this exhibition opening with a live music, food and drinks, and space to make your own Punk Love inspired artwork. Also celebrating with us will be GDAC’s two local business partners for the Denton Main Street Association’s Share the Love fundraising campaign, Studio LaSalle and Headshot Headquarters. For donations, punk out your hair with feather or tinsel extensions from Studio LaSalle stylists then show some love for yourself with a portrait taken by Marie Fox from Headshot Headquarters.
Rock out with us to a performance from local group, Nip Slip, who were just recently nominated for Best Rock Act by the Dallas Entertainment Awards!
Punk Love will be on display until Feb. 22nd.
Cups & Chords: Open Mic Night

Brought to you by GDAC and Artists Enclave, this free event invites everyone to enjoy a warm evening filled with music, poetry, creative writing and more. Grab a cup of hot coffee or cocoa, enjoy light snacks, and relax as we showcase and celebrate the creativity of our community.
Calling all artists, poets, novelists, musicians, dancers, comedians, and more! The stage will be yours to share a story, perform a dance, sing a song, sketch a caricature, etc.

DBFF: Opening Reception & Denton ISD Adopt-A-School Art & Essay Awards
Join us to celebrate the opening of the 11th Edition of the Denton Black Film Festival and in partnership with the Denton Independent School District for its Annual Adopt A School Art and Essay Awards. Every year, the Denton ISD Adopt-A-School Program works with our elementary schools across the entire district to participate in the annual Art & Essay Competition. Every 4th and 5th grade student submits on original piece of artwork and an essay (written in English or Spanish) based on the yearly topic. We had such a wonderful experience working together last year for the awards. So, we have decided once again to collaborate on this year's theme, Resilience. By definition Resilience is the ability to bounce back from or adjust to adversity, challenges, or setbacks. It is the heart of endurance, the power of healing, and the strength to rise again, no matter how many times life may knock you down. Come out and see how these young minds interpret Resilience and what it means to them.
Annual Members Meeting
Our annual member meeting is a tradition sponsored by the Staff and Board of Directors and will be held on Thursday, January 16 from 6pm to 8pm at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center. There will be a presentation led by GDAC staff highlighting all of the wonderful moments that we shared in 2024, and a preview of what’s in store for 2025! Come enjoy some light refreshments and friendly conversation as we share, celebrate, and look forward.
